This proposal will allow the Township to levy 5.425 mills to fund police protection in Northfield Township for 5 years beginning December 2023, annually adjusted downward due to the Headlee Amendment.

Shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Northfield Township, of 4.5 mills ($4.50 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 4.2639 mills ($4.2639 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollback, be replaced and increased at up to 5.425 mills ($5.425 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for five (5) years, 2023 to 2027 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for all authorized police department purposes, raising approximately $2,430,436.00 in the first year the millage is levied?
