Shall Scio Township, Washtenaw County, be authorized to create a special assessment district consisting of the entire Township (excluding the Village of Dexter) and levy special assessments against all taxable real property specially benefited within the district for the purpose of the general operation and maintenance of its fire and police services and the cost of purchasing and housing police and fire equipment; the special assessment shall be levied annually pursuant to the procedure set forth in Act 33 of Public Acts of 1951, MCL 41.801, in an amount not to exceed 1.945 mills ($1.945 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of four (4) years, 2006 through 2009 inclusive; the estimate of the revenue the Township will collect if the special assessment is approved and levied by the Township in the 2006 calendar year is approximately $2,083,429.
